Partners in Advocacy (Edinburgh Office)

Partners in Advocacy provide independent adovcacy to:

All Scotland

– Children/Young People aged 12-15 with additional support needs in education (My Rights, My Say project)

Glasgow

– Children/Young People aged 5-18 affected by a range of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), including substance misuse, youth justice, mental health among other issues

– Children/Young People who are inpatients in Skye House Adolescent Inpatient Unit and the Child Inpatient Unit in the Royal Hospital for Children

Dundee

– Children and Young People aged 0-21 who need support with communication – particular emphasis on mental health issues; detained under the MHCTA or in the community; learning disabilities, transition issues, isolation as well as issues from being a young parent. Instructed and non-instructed advocacy.

East Dunbartonshire

– Children and Young People aged 5-18 residing in St Marys Kenmure in Bishopbriggs to support them with issues relating to being in secure care

Dundee, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Edinburgh, Inverclyde, South Lanarkshire or West Dunbartonshire

– Children and Young People aged 5-18 who need support with an upcoming Children’s Hearings

Renfrewshire

– Children and Young People residing in Nether Johnstone House to support with any issues they have while residing there

East Renfrewshire

– Children and Young People involved in Child Protection process; with significant mental health issues and/or learning disability they need support within the community; transitions issues for young people with complex needs. Instructed and non-instructed advocacy.

Highland

– Young people residing in residential care homes managed by New Reflexions (Garden Cottage and Birchwood)

– Those in caring roles (Highland Council Area) who are:

    – Adults aged 18+ caring for someone who has an illness, disability or condition

    – Adult carers who do not live in Highland but the person they care for is resident in Highland

    – Carers who live in Highland but care for an individual who lives elsewhere

– Adults 16+ with lived/living experience of dependence or recovery (or their significant other) relating to alcohol and/or drug use. Project funded by Highland Alcohol & Drug Partnership, operational in Inverness City and northwards to include Dingwall, Alness, Invergordon and to Carrbridge in the south.

Edinburgh

– Individual, instructed, non-instructed advocacy for adults (16+) with:

    – Learning disabilities

    – Autism

    – Dementia

    – Physical disabilities

    – Sensory impairment

    – Older people, aged 65 or over who have no one else to support them

Midlothian

– Individual, instructed and non-instructed advocacy for adults (16+) with a learning disability

East Lothian

– Individual, instructed, non-instructed, and collective advocacy for adults (16+) with a learning disability and people with autism
