Partners in Advocacy (Edinburgh Office)

Partners in Advocacy provide independent advocacy in the following areas:

Edinburgh

Individual issue-based independent advocacy for:

  • Adults aged 16+ with learning disabilites, autism, dementia, physical/sensory disabilites.
  • Older people aged 65+ who have no one else to support them.
  • Children and young people aged 5-18 going through children’s hearings.

Edinburgh Carers Services provides individual issue-based, collective, and peer independent advocacy for unpaid carers of individuals with mental illness or learning disabilities, helping them navigate transitions, access resources, and connect with others in similar roles.

They prioritise supporting adults detained under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003; adults subject to the guardianship process under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000; adults subject to measures under the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007; parents with a child on the Child Protection Register or when a child is being removed from their care.

Midlothian

Individual issue-based independent advocacy for adults aged 16+ with learning disabilities.

East Lothian

Individual issue-based independent advocacy for adults aged 16+ with learning disabilities, autism.

Collective independent advocacy for adults aged 16+ with learning disabilities, autism.

 

They provide non-instructed independent advocacy to adults in all the above areas.

They provide individual independent advocacy to children and young people aged 12 – 15 with additional support needs in education (My Rights, My Say project).

They also have offices in Glasgow & Dundee, and provide independent advocacy in the Highland Council Area.
