The ‘Independent Advocacy Awareness Week’ will take place from Monday 24 April to Friday 28 April 2023 to raise awareness of what independent advocacy is, highlight the work of our members across Scotland and share powerful stories.
What is independent advocacy?
Independent advocacy is about speaking up for, and standing alongside individuals or groups, and not being influenced by the views of others. Fundamentally it is about everyone having the right to a voice: addressing barriers and imbalances of power, and ensuring that an individual’s human rights are recognised, respected, and secured.
Independent advocacy webinar sessions
SIAA is delighted to invite everyone to our webinar sessions where independent advocacy organisations will cover the definition of independent advocacy, our members work, case studies and the relationship between independent advocacy and human rights.
