Share your good practice examples of independent advocacy with children & young people

Each year, Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights) produce a State of Children’s Rights Report. These reports monitor Scotland’s progress in implementing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and wider international human rights treaties.  This year’s report aims to inspire and empower everyone in Scotland in light of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill being passed in March 2021. It will offer practical guidance on implementing children’s rights-based approaches, support on overcoming challenges and case studies of promising practice. The report will be shared with all levels of government, NGOs and professionals.

Together are looking for your stories of upholding children and young people’s rights to help shape the report. This is an opportunity to share the work of independent advocates in upholding a child’s right under article 12 of the UNCRC to be listened to and taken seriously. We would encourage you to respond individually to the survey if you have time, alternatively you can contribute to SIAA’s response. You can do this by answering the questions below, your answers will form the basis of our broader response focussing on independent advocacy. Please complete the form by 28 July 2021 or email examples of good practice to Rhona via rhona.willder@siaa.org.uk.
