Thanks to our members feedback, we are delighted to launch the ‘Independent Advocacy Awareness Week’ that will take place from Monday 24 April to Friday 28 April 2023.
This week is organised by the SIAA membership to promote independent advocacy in Scotland and highlight the difference it makes in people’s lives.
During this campaign, we aim to raise awareness of what independent advocacy is, highlight the work of our members across Scotland and share powerful stories. Some of the topics we would like to cover are: definition of independent advocacy (different models of IA, instructed and non-instructed, myth busting, etc), IAOs work, case studies by advocacy partners, relationship and boundaries and the relationship between independent advocacy and human rights and independent advocacy.
The main event will take place in Edinburgh on Thursday 27 April and the rest of the sessions will be online.
We’re currently organising the campaign and would love to invite our membership to join in. If your organisation would like to participate leading a session to share the fantastic work you do, please contact us at Enquiry@siaa.org.uk
