Explore SIAA’s new ‘Independent advocacy in action’ case studies publication

A new SIAA publication, ‘Independent advocacy in action‘, aims to support SIAA members and our key stakeholders to get the most out of the ‘Independent Advocacy Principles, Standards and Code of Best Practicedocument – particularly those with less first-hand experience of independent advocacy.

Each case study in the new publication documents an issue or issues brought by an advocacy partner or group and details what support the independent advocate provided, as well as identifying which elements of the Principles document the case illustrates. Specific standards and indicators illustrated by each case are noted too. The intention is for readers to use both documents – the ‘Principles’ and the ‘Case Studies’ – in conjunction with one another.

The case studies put ‘flesh on the bones’ of what independent advocacy looks and feels like, and demonstrate how the ‘Principles, Standards and Code of Best Practice’ should be effectively woven through organisational policy and day-to-day working practices.

Thank you to the many SIAA members that contributed case studies to the publication!
