This session is open to everyone in SIAA member organisation, including trustees and volunteers, who has an interest in how lobbying and influencing work.
We’ll explore proven tools and strategies used by SIAA and our members to influence local and national policy and decision-making around independent advocacy. Through practical examples, we’ll highlight effective influencing techniques and discuss how SIAA can support Members in strengthening their local influencing efforts.
Key topics include:
- Regulated lobbying and relationship-based influencing
- Crafting effective asks
- Identifying decision-makers and gatekeepers
- Building visibility and awareness
- Campaigning
Together, we will explore existing barriers and opportunities for influencing, encouraging participants to leave the session with practical ideas for applying these strategies in their local contexts.
