SIAA Roundtable – LGBTQ+ Independent Advocacy

As part of SIAA’s work on the LGBT Charter for Organisations we have been considering the current provision of independent advocacy for LGBTQ+ people and communities in Scotland. This SIAA Roundtable discussion for SIAA member organisations will be an opportunity to explore this further as well as look at other aspects of LGBTQ+ inclusion.
SIAA will begin the roundtable by introducing our work on the LGBT Charter. We’re delighted to have CAPS Independent Advocacy joining us to speak about their experience of providing collective and individual independent advocacy (IA) to people in the LGBTQ+ community.
There will be lots of opportunities for wider discussion too. For example we’ll look at barriers to providing LGBTQ+ people and groups with IA, common issues LGBTQ+ need IA for and looking at learning options for staff and volunteers.
