Independent Advocacy Perth & Kinross (IAPK) provide individual issue-based independent advocacy for adults and children, including:
- New Scots
- Unpaid Carers
- People who use substances
- Prisoners in HMPs Perth and Castle Huntly
- Patients in Rohallion Secure Care Clinic
They support individuals with a right to access independent advocacy as per Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, adults subject to the guardianship process under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000; adults subject to measures under the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.
They provide non-instructed independent advocacy to adults and children.
They provide independent advocacy to children and young people going through children’s hearings.
They provide independent collective advocacy for New Scots and patients residing in Rohallion Secure Care Clinic.
IAPK prioritises cases with short term detentions due to appeal rights and the short time scale placed on detentions. They specialise in supporting individuals during Mental Health Tribunals & Children’s Hearing Advocacy.
