The purpose of the Principles and Standards is to give people an understanding of what independent advocacy is and what advocates do.  Advocates and advocacy organisations will use it to assist them to operate in a clear and responsible way. The document will be useful for advocacy organisations to ensure that they are providing high quality advocacy.  It is also designed to help people who use advocacy and others who come into contact with advocacy have a clear understanding of what they can expect.
