Has anyone else been turned down for accessing microsoft software through the ctx programme for charities? The reason we have been given is 'because we are an advocacy organisation'. Any suggestions as to how we could get round this would be gratefully received.

I have no experience of CTX but you could try Pugh (www.pugh.co.uk), as they run a charity programme which includes Microsoft products. I have purchased Microsoft software successfully on behalf of an advocacy organisation in the past.

Good luck!

We have also used PUGH at the SIAA and have had no problems with them. Indeed, as a Scottish charity and a member of the SCVO we get a discount. Our IT support also has details of another company, the details of which I can't recall, but if you wish to compare prices, e-mail me at vfinney@siaa.org.uk and I can get their details for you. Regarding the response from CTX, could it be that they are confused about independent advocacy and think you are wealthy and succesful lawyers? I might pop a copy of A Voice Through Choice in the post to them!

In fact, I have just ordered some software from CTX for AdvoCard without any problems. Granted I've still to receive the goods but it looks promising so far. Having compared the prices, CTX are much cheaper than Pugh.
