The Principles into practice awards celebrate best practice in mental health services.  Services, projects and teams who have embraced the principles in their work and can show how this has made a difference are shortlisted for awards and put forward to the final.

PiP AwardsThe SIAA are sponsoring the award for Service user participation and influence which will be voted for by the 160 attendees at the ceremony on Friday 18 March.

The awards shortlist:
Richmond Fellowship Scotland - FOCUS
Flourish House (Clubhouse)
Royal Edinburgh Hospital Self Harm ServIce / CAPS Personality Disorder Project
The Advisory Group (TAG) Key Community Supports

We think that individual participation in decisions that affect them is a fundamental principle and one that should be at the heart of any health or social care decision. The principles are clear that just because someone has a mental illness, learning disability or other mental disorder, it doesn't mean they have no say in what happens to them.Consideration of the principles and individual needs should be at the heart of how services are planned and delivered.

Also at the event Jo McFarlane has been invited to be the poet in residence (see some of her poetry in our A Voice Through Choice book) and a group from Oor Mad History will be speaking.
