    Introducing the Scottish Recovery Network

The Scottish Recovery Network aims to engage communities across Scotland in debate on how best to promote and support recovery from long-term mental health problems.

Recovery is about more than the mere absence of symptoms and is a deeply personal process. However, international experience shows that developing an expectation of recovery and an understanding of what helps people regain control in their lives can have a powerful impact.

Read more about the background to the Network.

Promoting and supporting recovery is one of the four key aims of the Scottish Executive's National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing. The Scottish Recovery Network is funded through this programme.

    Narrative Findings Released

Read the complete findings report, which highlights several common elements which were found to be helpful for recovery. These included developing a positive view of yourself and having hope for the future, having meaningful activities and purpose in your life, having your contributions and choices in life validated and valued, having supportive relationships and having the right mix of treatments and support. One of the things that is clear is that this is no different from what most people want in life.
